The Evolution FAQ is a project started and run by Richard Peacock, of The Amateur Scientist, in order to address some of the common questions people have about the theory of evolution in an easy-to-understand format. The target audience of this site is evolution-ignorant laypeople – not necessarily unintelligent people, just people who, for whatever reason, have not been exposed to the science of evolutionary biology.
Questions addressed range from “What is evolution?” to “Doesn’t evolution violate the 2nd law of thermodynamics?”, and they even move into topics that are not specifically linked to evolutionary theory, like cosmology – as these are types of questions that would be asked by a person who has been in contact with creationist educational material and needs some scientific answers.
I’ve been meaning to promote this site for a while, but I never got around to it until now. I’m supposedly a contributor to the Evolution FAQ, despite only writing one answer so far, so it’s my duty to promote it. Yes, I’m a bad promoter… Obviously, I think it’s a great idea and I want to spread the word to as many people as possible, so if you have a blog or a website, me and Richard would be very happy to see it linked to in some way.
The site is not complete, of course – there is always room for more questions to be answered. However, I’m terrible at thinking of things to write about, so if you have a suggestion for a specific question that you think needs answering and added to the Evolution FAQ, either let me know here, so I can inform Richard, or send it to Richard directly via the Evolution FAQ contact form.
If you feel up the task, you could write your own answer to a question that isn’t in the FAQ already – every bit helps. Again, use the contact form to tell Richard of your willingness to help.
Now, I really must get back to thinking of questions to answer…
